You can join SWAP by becoming a member or giving of your position or skills by becoming a champion. See sidebar or top pages for more details.

BECOME A SWAP MEMBER

SWAP accepts as members and champions all interested persons 18 years and above including Nigerians and friends/lovers of Nigeria. Members shall not be discriminated against based on gender, ethnicity or party affiliation. Membership is free; and members are encouraged to be part of the political process in Nigeria and can be members of any Nigerian or foreign political party.

Each prospective member must:

1. Be patriotic and seek the good of Nigeria
2. Be honest and of good character
3. Follow, and believe in the rule of law
4. Be tolerant of other beliefs, faiths and cultures
5. Be transparent in all public interactions
6. Love knowledge and believes in evidence-based decisions
7. Have a track record of service to their local community
8. Have good leadership and interpersonal skills
9. Have effective verbal and written communication skills

As a member, you will:

1. Share our outreach letters, SMS or social media messages;
2. Join and actively engage with SWAP on Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp;
3. Contribute to SWAP through your skills in community mobilization, graphics or research.
4. Visit the SWAP website and download relevant materials and resources.


BECOME A SWAP CHAMPION

SWAP members who are politically active or interested in political office (incumbents and aspirants) are encouraged to go further and enlist as SWAP champions, and therefore become eligible for training and support. SWAP facilitates champions to promote and exemplify accountability and participation in local politics, public policy and governance.

As a champion you will:

1. Present SWAP strategies at Local Government council meetings
2. Attend a stakeholder consultation by your state or national house of assembly.
3. Contact or engage your state or national assembly rep. on SWAP work plans
4. Mobilize town hall meetings on topics that affect your local area
5. Organize or attend a local SWAP fundraiser with family and friends
